My 15 yo daughter has suffered severely from eczema. She’s been on steroid pills, creams and every prescribed topical ointment on the market. I am desperate to approach this skin issue with a more natural/healthy method. The steroid pills she takes are not at all healthy on her system but I dont know what else to do. I would love your recipe for the psoriasis mixture as this may help with my daughter. Thanks so much!!
Diffusing any EO would not be safe for the children or adult coming into your classroom as there are tons of allergies and Pharmaceutical Drug interactions you would not be aware of which could potentially be very dangerous. I would definitely do more research before investing in EO’s, especially with YL or any MLM indicating they can cure illnesses. YL, doTerra and Natural Solutions were cited by the FDA in September 2014 for doing just that. Mountain Rose Herbs is a great company, Plant Therapy offers even Children Safe single Oils and Synergy Blends.
What would be more accurate is that the more “pure” the oil is the more caution you should use in internal dose (“consumption”) – which is one of the least effective ways to use essential oils because they are broken down by the liver before absorption into the blood stream. If an oil is closer to a synthetic flavoring, like that used in chewing gum, then it would be deemed safer for consumption. I assume what YL sells as pure for use in consumption is similar to pure synthetic flavoring.
Vetiver has been used in aromatherapy as an essential oil for anxiety and stress for centuries, and recent research is confirming that indeed that plant has effects on anxiety pathways. One study on rats found that Vetiver essential oil attenuated the stress and anxiety response in the amygdala of rats, an area of the brain associated with fear and other similar emotions. [24]
I just started working with doTERRA EOs….Last night I tried a glass of water with one drop of lemon and one of lime to curb a sweet craving. I woke up with terrible heart burn and it’s been bad all day. I’ve never had stomach acid shooting up into my esophagus before. It’s very painful. I’m burping and getting loads or burning… Is there anything i can do? I thought they were safe to ingest…

Not all essential oils are created equally, nor does more expensive necessarily mean “better.” There are certain brands I will use in a less therapeutic fashion (like for cleaning), because they’re far less expensive than their counterparts. When you see a wide fluctuation in price between, say, lavender essential oils, you can bet that the far less expensive one is likely lower in quality.

Almost all oils from NAN were sourced direct from small farms (many are from third-world countries).  Mr. Dean contracted with locals in the countries from where he sourced the oils, finds a quality farm, sets up a distiller, and extracts the oils.  The oils are then sent to Native American, then sent for testing, and bottled.  The only oils at NAN that are not from small farms are mainly the organic citrus oils.

I am just starting out in essential oils, but so far I really like this set. It is the "basics" that everyone getting started should have. I have definitely used the lavendar oil most often. About a week after getting the set, my son splashed some hot oil from a pan on both of us. I applied lavendar oil to his burn and mine, not only did it take the sting out of the burns, the burn on his arm did not blister. Since then I have used peppermint oil when he was suffering from nausea and vomiting (flu) and I have used the lavendar oil for a sunburn. No peeling and almost immediate relief of pain. I am sure there is so much more I could be doing. As I learn more uses, I will update. The oils seem to be excellent quality. They are therapeutic grade. I think this is an excellent starter set, if like me, you are new to essential oils and eager to learn their uses.

This next mixture is going to first take you back to the beginning of this article. It is time to bring the lavender oil back out once again. You are going to add some peppermint oil, too. Once again there is a third essential oil to add to the mix, and it is lemon oil. It was mentioned earlier that peppermint oil can help you if you have a cold or respiratory issue. Well, this mixture of three important essential oils for diffusers can help alleviate many allergy symptoms.

The intervention group inhaled lavender oil for 15 days and researchers found that they showed significantly significant differences in their sleep quality compared to the control group that received no form of therapy. Researchers pointed out that lavender oil is a non-invasive, inexpensive and easily applicable intervention for hospital patients who are having trouble sleeping and experiencing anxiety. (21)
Lavender is one of the most widely used and popular relaxing and calming essential oils of all time, and it’s not hard to see why: it smells great, it works, and it has quite a bit of science to back it up. Researchers studying the medicinal effects of Lavender have consistently found that its essential oil powerfully reduces anxiety and stress when applied on the skin or taken internally both in animals and humans. Essential oils for babies should always be diluted using a carrier oil. The carrier oils help ensure the essential oil doesn’t irritate your baby and is more evenly distributed. Just as adults react differently to different essential oils, so do babies, but on the whole they are more sensitive. The National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy recommends a dilution ratio of .5 to 2.5 percent, and avoiding some oils overall.

Do not take any oils internally and do not apply undiluted essential oils, absolutes, CO2s or other concentrated essences onto the skin without advanced essential oil knowledge or consultation from a qualified aromatherapy practitioner. If you are pregnant, epileptic, have liver damage, have cancer, or have any other medical problem, use oils only under the proper guidance of a qualified aromatherapy practitioner. Use extreme caution when using oils with children. It is safest to consult a qualified aromatherapy practitioner before using oils with children.
