In a world of whirlwinds, anxiety and stress are simply unavoidable. In fact, stress has become so commonplace that according to the American Psychological Association, 75 percent of Americans experience it at least once a month. When stress becomes rampant, our bodies pay the price, and it manifests in all sorts of ways from sleeplessness and irritability to digestive distress and reproductive issues.

Try keeping some essential oils handy, and use them whenever you find yourself feeling tired. Keep a bottle in the car, office, or gym bag. Alternatively, take energy-boosting essential oil blends anywhere you go with portable aromatherapy diffusers. Whichever method of using these essential oils you choose, all you have to do is take a deep breath and tackle the day.

Somebody asked about the relationship between doTERRA and Young Living, since their claims regarding their respective oils are so similar. Funny thing about that. There was originally only one company – I think Young Living, although I am not sure – but those folks got in a squabble among themselves and a group broke off and formed doTERRA. Hence, the nearly identical hype.

Yes you can mix Tea Tree and Rosemary EOS (essential oils). And while using less expensive brands for cleaning might make sense to some, they will not disinfectant the way pure oils will. I would only use a proven pure EO on my body internally and externally. Anything you put on your skin goes into your body in 26 seconds. Young Living owns their own farms, everything is beyond organic, they distill in their own distilleries which are open along with the farms world wide for any member to visit and learn from. The oils are 3rd party tested. By law an EO manufacturer can put 100% pure on their bottles and only have 5% pure EO, they don’t have to say what the other 95% is. My recommendation… Do your homework!

There are more and more companies out there on a daily basis. It truly seems that every day there is a new company selling essential oils and many are making claims that they are the “only pure oils out there” – which is not true.  My standards are high. I don't just want a company that says they are pure–when deciding where to buy essential oils, I want to make SURE I'm getting purity. And more.
The author of this book is the founder of Young Living (the Sead to Seal company I mentioned earlier). This is the book I use as my ‘go to’ source as to which Young Living Oils to use. GET TO KNOW THESE OILS, as they are the only ones safe for internal use on the market. Other companies will tell you their oils are safe to ingest. THEY ARE NOT. The only essential oil brand I can recommend for safe internal use with effective healing results is young living. If your 4 year old has leukemia one of the best things you can do for her is to give her 5ml of Ningxia Red per day in addition to essential oils on the feet and through a diffuser. There will be more info for you in the book as well as to where to start. If you would like more info please let me know. I would be happy to introduce you to young living. A woman in michigan named shannon hudson has leukemia and through the use of young living products her bloodwork is 100% NORMAL and I can for sure connect you with her or you can look her up on facebook. Shannon Hudson in Michigan…I am sending prayers and positive thoughts for you and your daughter Dave.
One of the most revered herbs in the ancient Indian system of medicine known as Ayurveda, Holy Basil essential oil has powerful anxiety- and stress-reducing effects, among many other beneficial medicinal properties. Holy Basil is what’s known by herbalists as an adaptogen, meaning that it works to bring the body and mind into balance based on what it most needs in that moment. For example, if you are constantly stressed out and anxious, Holy Basil essential oil will be calming and relaxing. On the other hand, if you are tired and exhausted all the time, Holy Basil can help rejuvenate your body and restore your energy levels.

I’m sensitive to many sources and when my acupuncturist applied peppermint oil to an aching shoulder it sent me right into orbit. Anxiety and blood pressure were out of control for several days. I have always been able to eat peppermint with no problem but the oil while applied to the skin was way too intense. Now just the scent of it sets me off. Be careful.
doTERRA is a popular, reliable essential oil pick for aromatherapy buffs: reviewers across Amazon frequently mention them as a litmus test for comparing the quality of other oils on the site. This kit is nice for people seeking better sleep who already have some experience with essential oils and are willing to drop more money on a premium set. It contains 10 oils and blends customized to promote wellness, and there are plenty of selections that may induce a restful slumber.
I have spent a lot of time on here debunking the myths put forth by glassy eyed cult followers and over zealous MLM reps and the main stream aromatherapy community loves it when I do this. But turnabout is fair play. Now its time to clear up a myth on the other side of aromatherapy. I see almost daily where people say things like “therapeutic grade” doesn’t exist or there is no such thing as a therapeutic grade standard. But to say there is no such thing as a TG standard is like saying there is no such thing as essential oils.
Hi. I have been buying my eos from a wholesaler called Bulk Apothecary at a very cheap price. They claim to be very pure and high quality, but the labels on products are pretty vague and I dont have much to compare the quality to, as I have never spent the extra money on more expensive ones. I cant. but I am a firm believer in using them, and am trying to build my collection. Do you know much about this company and their supply of eos? I would appreciate any feedback. Thank you.

This refreshing and stimulating essential oil has many different benefits, including promoting memory retention and alertness. If asked which ten items I'd want to have with me if marooned on a deserted island, three of the ten would probably be essential oils. I have a diffuser going in my apartment 24/7, my collection has outgrown its home three times now, and my boyfriend affectionately refers to me as "The Witch Doctor" whenever I whip one out of my purse. Needless to say, I'm a huge believer in the healing benefits of the best organic essential oils, but I'm also hyper-aware of the dangers associated with poor-quality ones.
DoTERRA – Same goes for DoTerra in that they are pricey and that you can get a discount for the kit and even buy from someone else who has them. I really like their spa line of soaps in addition to their oils, and their hair serum. The only real noticeable difference in the actual oils that I have experienced between Young Living and DoTERRA is that the Peppermint oil for DT seemed to have a hint of vanilla smell to it, which didn’t affect its use for us at all. If you’re interested in buying DoTERRA, my friend Alida from The Realistic Mama sells them.
Young Living ARE the best in my opinion, with their Seed to Seal standards and their Vitality line that are ingestible. I drink some in my water for tons of health benefits, I diffuse them, and use them topically too. So many benefits to using the Young Living brand. And a whole community of like minded people to learn from and make your own roller bottles and recipes with! Healing one drop at a time.
The English name clary originates from the Latin sclarea, which was derived from clarus, meaning “clear.” I like to think of clary sage Salvia sclarea (L.) essential oil as “clearing” away the dark clouds of our mood, as it’s traditionally been known for its uplifting and euphoric actions. This is an oil you can recommend to clients to diffuse before bed or add to the bath for a relaxing, restorative soak.
Both companies' skin care products had ingredients rated 3 and above on EWG's Skin Deep rating system. I prefer to stick with ingredients rated 2, at the highest. Depending on what you are looking for, that may or may not be acceptable to you. Of course it depends on their performance too. I don't think all of EWG's ratings are flawless, but I do pay attention when I see higher ratings there.
The practice of taking essential oils internally, by mouth, has been a heated debate within the essential oil community. Since the recent rise of the multi-level-marketing essential oil companies, and other brands claiming that their oils are pure enough to eat, the idea of freely ingesting essential oils has plagued the minds of the average consumer.
Allergens are almost always composed of proteins or polypeptides, which are relatively large molecules. There are no proteins or polypeptides in essential oils. In fact, nitrogen containing compounds are virtually non-existent in essential oils except in occasional trace amounts. Allergens are composed of large molecules. There are no large molecules in volatile or aromatic oils, otherwise they would be neither volatile or aromatic.
Ahh, wonderful, another anti vaxxer who listens to Hollywood celebrities and hoohahs who have their own blog solely because the internet is free instead of qualified doctors. The “HORRIBLE! side effects” come from the fact that a vaccine is a small concentrated dose of a disease meant to help your body understand how to defeat it large scale when/if it comes to you. And the whole compensation thing- let’s call for another analogy. Doctors are obviously paid to perform surgeries (or paid to refer them to the surgeon who does) but any sane person knows that since the 50s doctors don’t recommend otherwise useless surgeries unless they are necessary. And the badgering about vaccines comes from the fact that people like you exist, spreading misinformation and even making polio, yes polio, spring up again. Honestly, do some research next time, you ignorant snob. (Oh and wonderful ad slipped in very subtly!) Have a wondeeful day!
Citrus Essential Oils are often thought of for their light, summery aromas, but I love using citrus oils all year round. My use of the citrus oils increases during the colder months as I find them energizing and help to uplift the spirits. They are the perfect complement to blends that fight off the winter blues, "cabin fever" and depression. Read about the aromatic properties of each of the citrus essential oils.

With growing interest in natural holistic healing and integrative medicine, essential oils are being actively researched and applied in the United States. “There is compelling research on the antiviral and antibacterial properties of oils as well as studies on the impact of essential oils on emotional health, including anxiety, depression, mood, and concentration,” says Jan Stritzler, corrective yoga instructor at Complete Wellness NYC. Her practice is just one of thousands across the U.S. that combines the use of therapeutic grade essential oils with relaxation techniques that include deep breathing, yoga, meditation, massage, and acupuncture, to heal patients from the inside out. “Oils must be kept away from eyes and should not be used on people with high skin sensitivity,” she adds. “Oils are potent and only very small amounts are needed if the quality is therapeutic.” Essential oils can also be combined with a carrier oil, such as pure coconut oil, which is used to dilute the potency as well as prevent skin sensitivity for massage. The following oils, though they are strongly linked with other specific health benefits, have been shown to be helpful in lessening anxiety, boosting mood, and improving sleep. Check out these additional natural remedies for anxiety.
Promising Review: “I’m an essential-oil snob. I collect oils for all sorts of therapeutic uses, mostly external. This is the first lavender oil I’ve purchased that has specifically stated it’s safe to ingest. I’ve been ingesting it, and I find it very anxiolytic; I take it in filtered still water or add it to sparkling water (this is my new favorite refreshment). The oil smells just as a good lavender oil should, and I’m impressed with the purity of it and its suitability for internal and external uses. It’s much easier and potent using this oil as opposed to making a messy tisane with dried lavender buds. I go through lavender oil faster than I do other oils (I think this is the case with most frequent users of essential oils, as it’s arguably a staple of any collection), and I’ll definitely make this my go-to brand/company for lavender oil.” – KittenLitter

The action of essential oils remains much the same with topical application. This is due to the relative permeability of the skin. The skin is the largest organ of the integumentary system, and can act like a sponge to certain compounds. In fact, studies have shown that the ability of the skin to absorb volatile compounds is actually quite high. While this is an unfavorable trait for a body in a pool full of chlorine, it is quite useful with essential oils. Pure essential oils and oils diluted in a carrier oil and applied to the skin can safely carry medicinal compounds into the bloodstream.

Good question. I wonder what the moisture content of the estimated weights are (HUGE difference as water makes up the majority of a plants’ weight). Nevertheless, I would guess that the environmental impact is minimal to none as most of these plants are numerous compared to harvesting other plants such as hardwoods, rain forest plants, and even corn. Take lavender for example, if it takes 100 lbs to extract 1 lb, that is barely nothing when you consider that lavender grows wild and is abundant. One acre of lavender would probably produce over a ton of plant parts in one mowing for oil extraction (I am guessing based on my experience with a variety of different plant “harvesting”). And it grows fast. To compare weight, imagine mowing a one acre field of mixed weeds 3 ft tall down to 6 inches, you would have a few thousand pounds of plants that would quickly and naturally grow back in a couple weeks. The rose petals are at the extreme ratio but are expensive and used far less than the common oils.

Although SLO is standardized to 80 mg, a similar dose size can be calculated readily using a nonstandardized LEO. The density of lavender oil has been estimated to be around 0.88 g/mL at 20°C.28 Therefore, 0.1 mL of oil would be weigh approximately 88 to 89 mg. Assuming 20 drops per milliliter, this would equate to around 2 drops of LEO for a dose of 88 mg, although variability is to be expected given the imprecise nature of this calculation, and it may be more accurate to measure a volume or directly weigh the oil.

What does this trio of essential oils do for you? You may count on them to combine to give you the mental clarity you need for that big final exam, for instance. Just add some drops of peppermint, rosemary and cinnamon oil to your diffuser, and get to studying before that test. It’s not just for taking exams though, as it’s good for clarity and focus on any job you need to get done.
CITRUS. Similar to sandalwood, this is a group of scents that can be stimulating or sleep-promoting, depending on your individual reaction and the type of citrus oil used. Bergamot, a type of orange, has been shown to relieve anxiety and improve sleep quality. Lemon oil has demonstrated anxiety and depression-relieving effects in research. Citrus may help some people fall asleep more easily, while others may find these fresh, bright scents are relaxing, but not sleep-promoting. If citrus scents are stimulating to you, don’t use them before bed—but do consider using them during the day, to help you feel both refreshed and relaxed.
Most essential oils on the market shouldn’t be taken internally because they aren’t pure.  I second the statement made by someone up above — I use Young Living oils internally (and externally) on a daily basis!  I was able to get off four different prescription drugs I was on with Young Living oils.  I teach people how to use them for emergency preparedness/collapse medicine purposes, as well as day-to-day.  I don’t want to self-promote, but if you want to see my website send me an email!  [email protected]

Amanda, I don’t know what your qualification is to make such a bold statement. MANY, MANY, MANY, MANY people use Young Living oils internally WITHOUT adverse side effects and WITHOUT burning their esophagus or hurting their gut flora, in fact it improves gut flora if you know what oils to use. Oils ingested are usually done so via a veggie capsule or can be mixed with water or Young Living’s NingXia Red. I myself ingest YLEOs on a daily basis and have been able to get off my proton-pump inhibitor (PPI) medication for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), which was causing the nice side effect of osteopenia (pre osteoporosis). If you know what you’re doing and do the research, oils are extremely beneficial without nasty side effects. Yes, I am a YL distributor, but I became one after using the oils for a while myself and on my pets and seeing great improvement in our situation. Hope that clears up the ingestion issue for you.
I just started working with doTERRA EOs….Last night I tried a glass of water with one drop of lemon and one of lime to curb a sweet craving. I woke up with terrible heart burn and it’s been bad all day. I’ve never had stomach acid shooting up into my esophagus before. It’s very painful. I’m burping and getting loads or burning… Is there anything i can do? I thought they were safe to ingest…
I’m not sure what you mean when you say “gras” but I wouldn’t recommend using just any essential oil, especially when you are putting it in your mouth. American standards only require 2% essential oils in a bottle that is labeled “100% Pure”. It’s really unfortunate we have such lax standards. Be Young uses the International standards for essential oil purity (E.O.B.B.D.)

I found this on pinterest so thanks for sharing! I personally love essential oils! I use Butterfly express oils and love them! I’ve been getting foot zones and using EOs. It has really helped! I really liked what the lady that does these explained to me about using Butterfly EOs. She said that the man who trained her to do foot zones used Younger Living oils at first and then started using Butterfly’s EOs because he felt they were more sincere in getting EOs out for all to use. I’m told that these EOs have different energies and I feel that this company truly wants all to experience all that they have to offer. I hope that this helps!
I used lavender essential oil with water as a body spray- it turns out THAT was what my skin reacted to– I thought I had hives on my chest, but it didn’t go away. Fortunately, since I had replaced my toiletry items with natural/homemade, it was easy to determine the lavender as the cause by process of elimination. That has to be the biggest reason to go natural– especially if your skin is sensitive…it allows you to personalize and customize while ensuring that you know every particle of what you are using 🙂 Thanks for everything!
